The project actions are designed (WP T2) to improve the management and control of access conditions to certain fishing areas, by using GPS to detect information about the fishing routes.
ADRINET is also about installing on fishing gears a tracking system in order to mark them (owner, boat, type, date, manufacturer) and monitor their loss and retrieval (WP T4).
These devices contribute to the development of an innovative system that allows the unique "localization" and "traceability" of the fishing tools through RFID technology (radio frequency identification).
GPS tools combined with RFID micro-chips would also allow the provision of virtual maps to identify possible situations of over-exploitation of specific fishing areas.
